Texas Black Magic

Texas Black Magic is a 65 Coronet that was a Street racer with an aluminum headed, dual Holley 383; 4-speed transmission; and 8 3/4" Suregrip with 4.88s.

It was taken to Texas Thunder where it was back-halved using a coil-over 4-link and Ford 9"; and the 451 motor and trans-brake 727 came from the Red Coronet.

Texas Black Magic is an air-shifted bracket racer that runs high tens and low 11s in this configuration. However, we recently bought an Indy 540 motor and had Cope Racing Transmissions built their strongest Pro-Race II transmission for a drive-train swap that will happen at the end of the 2004 racing season. It should be running 8s with that configuration. Below are a couple of photos. Click the small photo to view the larger version.
